A former asbestos mine located 5.1 km (3.2 miles) WSW of Idria.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan sandstone, Franciscan Complex (serpentinite).
Local structures include the NW-trending Coalinga anticline, and the New Idria thrust fault. The deposit is highly sheared.
