A former Cr occurrence/mine located in the S½ sec. 20, T18S, R12E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.5 mile; 2,400 feet) ESE of Picacho Peak (coordinates of record), on private land. Owned by J.J. Blackie. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan and Panoche Formations (Late Cretaceous serpentinite). The ore body is lenticular and podiform. The serpentine is highly sheared in most places. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Production information: Ore production is less than 150 long tons.
