A reported Au occurrence located in the SE¼ sec. 28, T2N, R12E, SBM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile) WNW of Sheep Hole Pass (coordinates of record), at the northern approach to the pass, on federal land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
This property was examined in conjunction with the mineral appraisal of the Sheep Hole/Cadiz Wilderness Study Area (Bureau of Land Management) in 1980-1981. Backup information can be found in the WFOC mineral property files. The regular road map reflects that this locality is not in either wilderness area but rather, it is on a thin sliver of land between them.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
