National group (Forbes; Veteran), Shasta Dam, East Shasta Copper - Zinc District, Klamath Mts, Shasta Co., California, USA

A former Au mine located in sec. 23, T33N, R5W, MDM, 2.4 km (7,900 feet) ESE of Shasta Dam. Originally located in 1869. The property consists of several claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

NOTE: MRDS file 10077550 contains data appropriate to this locality as reported here; however, the geographic data presented in the file places the locality in Oregon. The T&R values provided are correct for the location in Shasta County.

Mineralization is a Au occurrence. The ore body is 0.76 meters thick. Gold is associated with pyrite. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 1 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 1,200 foot adit, a 700 foot winze, and a 50 foot shaft.
