A Mn occurrence located in the SW¼ sec. 22, T29N, R9W, MDM, 2.4 km (8,000 feet) SE of Platina, along Beegum Creek, on the side of a steep mountain about 1 mile by trail from the nearest road. Owned by Mrs E. M. Nicol (fee land owner), California (1974). Discovered 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in greenstone. The ore body is 1.52 meters wide and 15.24 meters long. A low-grade oxide deposit occurs in massive chert which strikes N85E, and dips nearly vertically. The ore body has a maximum width of 5 feet, and can be traced for 50 feet. About 100 yards across strike to the N chert is succeeded by greenstone. Primary ore may be manganiferous chert and perhaps rhodonite. Local rocks include Lower Cretaceous marine rocks.
Analytical data results: Estimated 10-15% Mn.
