Old Spanish Mine (Enright Mine; Deakin and Taylor Mine), Shasta, Shasta District, Klamath Mts, Shasta Co., California, USA

Latitude: 40°35'11"N
Longitude: 122°28'27"W
A former lode Au mine located in sec. 31, T32N, R5W, MDM (coordinates estimated), 2.1 km (6,800 feet) SE of Shasta. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in andesite and quartz diorite. The ore body strikes N70E and dips vertically at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Ore controls were a NW-trending fault and greenstone inclusions in N70 of the workings. Granitic stock suggests that the fault is ore locus. The 1 main vein strikes N70E. 3 parallel veins strike N70W and dip 50 to 70 NE. The sulfide zone is 10 feet below surface. All veins are associated with intrusive contact of the host rocks. A small amount of sulphides occur in the quartz vein. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 4 (Klamath Mountains and Northern Sierra Nevada).

Local structures include a NW-trending fault South.

Workings include underground openings. They are comprised of 2 shafts at 45 and 90 feet deep; a 210 foot adit in the main vein. The same vein was prospected prior to 1890. 2 adits were driven on the smaller vein at 125 and 140 feet long plus a shaft.
