A Mn occurrence/claim/mine located in sec. 18, T29N, R10W, MDM, 3.5 km (2.2 miles) N of Dead Horse Ridge and 4.1 km (2.6 miles) SW of Knob, along McFarland Ridge and the Trinity County line, in the headwaters area of Oliphant Creek. Discovered 1918. Owned by the Victor Mining Co. (1974).

Mineralization is hosted in chert. Manganese oxides occur as irregular soft bunches and fracture fillings in a hard, bluish quartzose rock (metamorphosed chert?). It is associated with quartz mica schist, and both are included in a broad area of serpentine and acidic intrusives, mainly quartz porphyry. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
