A former lode Au-Pb occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 20, T19N, R11E, MDM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles) E of Cornish House and 2.2 km (1.4 miles) N of American Hill (4½ miles SE of Downieville), in the headwaters area of Jim Crow Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit with ore shoots hosted in slate, porphyry and quartzite. The ore body is 4.88 meters in thickness. Therev are parallel veins which range in thickness from small stringers to 16 feet thick. Fissure vein filling cuts the strike of the country rock. The footwalls and hanging walls are either slate or porphyry. At least 3 ore shoots occur from 32 to 200 feet long and from 3 to 12 feet wide. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 21.64 meters and an overall length of 2,286 meters. There are 3 adits. The upper adits have 80 feet to the vein with 240 feet of drifts and a stope 72 feet to surface. Other drifts of 800 feet from the 2 lower short adits. There are also surface cuts.

Production data are found in: MacBoyle, Errol (1920b).
