A former lode Au-Cu occurrence/mine located in sec. 4, T18N, R10E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) NE of Mack House, along the N canyon wall of Kanaka Creek at French Ravine (3 miles S of Forest City), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in serpentinite. The ore body strikes E and dips N. The Scotia vein strikes E and dips N. The Alice vein dips W. Both veins lie flat in serpentine with an average thickness of 1 foot (30 cm). Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with an overall length of 182.88 meters and an overall width of 91.44 meters, and comprised of a 75 foot inclined shaft and an adit 110 fet long on the Scotia vein.
