A former placer Au mine located in the NE¼NE¼ secs. 29, sec. 30, and in the _/2 (?)SE¼ sec. 31, T3N, R10E, MDM, 1.2 km (4,000 feet) ENE of Knights Ferry, along the Stanislaus River (N side), near the Calaveras County line. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. This locality is evidenced by a shaded large area on the topo map indicating tailings.

Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks.

Workings included surface dredging operations. A dragline dredge operated at the Halter Mine* from February 20 to April 26, 1941. 552 ounces of Au and 27 ounces of Ag were recovered from 87,848 cubic yards of gravel.

* There is no other mention of a "Halter Mine." It is not listed in the USGS MRDS database and may be an alternate name for this locality.
