A Hg occurrence/prospect located in sec. 1, T34N, R11W, MDM, 0.5 km (1,800 feet) W of Canyon City site, along an unnamed tributary of Canyon Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 to 2,000 meters.
Mineralization is a Hg deposit (Deposit model: 179: Silica-carbonate Hg), hosted in metavolcanic rock. The ore body is comprised of fracture coatings. There is no geologic information in the reference. The location plots in Pre-Silurian metavolcanic rocks on the Redding geologic map. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains).
