San Carlos Mine (incorrect!)
Small oxidized magnetite-rich zinc-lead skarn and Carbonate Replacement Deposit in the Sierra San Carlos. Operated through the 1950s by ASARCO. Best known for outstanding vanadinite and wulfenite. The wulfenites are rare and the best stand among the best from anywhere for size (to 7 cm), color (electric orange red) and gemminess. In 2018 and 2019 major finds of vanadinite were made that outshadow all previous finds. Smaller amounts of excellent wulfenite with brilliant orange red mimetite (vanadinite?) were found, with small amounts of gemmy 4 mm descloizite.
