Canyon Placers Inc. claim, Dedrick, Canyon Creek District, Klamath Mts, Trinity Co., California, USA
Latitude: 40°51'11"N
Longitude: 123°2'16"W
Longitude: 123°2'16"W
Mineralization is a Au (Mn [?]) deposit hosted in red chert. The ore body is comprised of 2 beds 12 to 16 feet thick. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains).
NOTE: The relevent MRDS file presents seemingly incoherent and unlikely data for this locality. It is stated to be a Au deposit but the description of the ore states that it is a lode Mn deposit. The owning corporation's name indicates that it is a placer mining firm (not conclusive), AND, the topo map reflects a large area stated to be a "mining area," consistent with a placer mining property. Further, the analytical data only refers to Mn content and trhe only non-MRDS reference is a publication related to Mn deposits.
Analytical data results: Ore to 54.5% Mn.
