Fairview Mine, Trinity Dam, Minersville District, Klamath Mts, Trinity Co., California, USA
Latitude: 40°49'35"N
Longitude: 122°44'53"W
Longitude: 122°44'53"W
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Sidewinder volcanic series (Bragdon slate, diorite). The ore body is irregular in shape, strikes N, E-W and dips 47E, 60 at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The diroitic dike (?) footwall is highly silicified. The slate-diorite contact dips 45E. A faulted segment of the vein is exposed by surface cuts on the E end of old stopes. The fault contact is black slate material with greenstone exposed in No. 4 level, but no ore was found on the contact. Brecciated rhyolitic dike rock, cutting slate was exposed in the raise above. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 4 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 285 foot adit between No. 1 and No. 2 levels of the older workings. A small millsite exists. Old workings include open cuts and drifts and numerous stopes on levels No. 3 and No. 4.
Production data are found in: Brown (1913).
