Junction City Dredge Mine (Bergin placer; Laws; Eldorado), Red Hill, Junction City, Junction City District, Klamath Mts, Trinity Co., California, USA

A former dredge placer Au-Pt mine located in sec. 35, T34N, R11W, MDM, 3.3 km (2.1 miles) SW of Red Hill and 3.7 km (2.3 miles) W of Junction City, along the Trinity River, partially on National Forest land, partially obn other (private ?). Operators were J. Castro and others (1939); and Junction City Mining Co. (1938). MRDS database statede accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

NOTE: Parts of the dredged area lie within Trinity National Forest. Dredging took place for about 8 miles along the river near Junction City and included smaller claims such as Bergin placer (formerly a separate record but merged with this record in MRDS - 01/92). Location given is in tailings E of Benjamin Flat at Junction City. Accurate within dredging area.

Mineralization is a placer Au-Pt deposit (Deposit model code 119; USGS model code 39a; BC deposit profile C01. C02; deposit model name: Placer Au-PGE; Mark3 model number 54). Ore control was stream hydraulics. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
