A Cr occurrence located in sec. 13, T30N, R12W, MDM (assumed spot at center of SE¼ sec. 13), 2.3 km (7,500 feet) SSE of Peanut, on the divide between Green Gulch and Ditch Gulch, tributaries of Salt Creek, on National Forest land. Owned by Clarence A. and Eva Patton, Hayfork, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
The MRDS database gives "Lost Horse" as an alternate name for this location; however, MRDS presents a separate file for the Lost Horse, placing it 0.6 km (1,900 feet) NW of this location.
Mineralization is a Cr occurrence hosted in peridotite. The deposit occurs in one of several dike-like peridotite bodies that are NW-trending across central to SW Trinity County. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
