A former Cr-Fe mine located in sec. 11, T38N, R6W, MDM, (assumed spot at center of the SW¼SW¼ sec. 11), 4.0 km (2.5 miles) WSW of Boulder Peak (coordinates of record)(Mine located on the W slope of the West Branch Crow Creek), on National Forest land (fee ownership). Discovered and first production 1918. Last production 1943, reopened (unknown when but operating in 1976). Owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad, California (<1943-1976). Operated by Dunsmoir Chrome Co. (1943-1945). Operated by A. H. Wild, California (1942 & 1976). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is hosted in serpentinite. The ore body is 2 meters thick and 9 meters long. It is disseminated, lenticular. The primary mode of origin was magmatic differentiation and primary ore control was lithology, secondary was faulting. There was intense wallrock alteration (carbonitization). Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 1 (Trinity Ophiolite).

Local structures include several EW-striking faults dipping either 60N or 65S.

Workings included surface and underground openings comprised of 3 adits and a trench (1943).

Total recorded production from the Railroad lease through 1944 was 1,693 long tons of chromite ore, 1,058 long tons of that production was during WWII.
