A Mn occurrence/prospect located in sec. 29, T31N, R12W, MDM, (Bulletins 125 & 152 located this deposit in the SE¼ sec. 20, but location given on Tule Creek probably puts it in sec. 29), 3.7 km (2.3 miles) WNW of Plummer Peak, along Tule Creek (about 0.8 mile from road). Lessee/Operator was Vance and Barnes, California (1974). Owned by George L. Crews and Hattie S. Taylor, California (1974). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a Mn occurrence hosted in chert. The ore body strikes NE and dips 80SW at a width of 18.29 meters and a length of 56.39 meters. A manganiferous chert body is 185 feet long and 60 feet wide. The grade seems to diminish toward both ends. The chert is associated with serpentine and greenstone, and is similar to the Carr claims to the W. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
Analytical data results: The ore grade is 2.19% Mn. None is over 10% Mn.
