A former lode Au occurrence/group of claims/mine located in secs. 31 & 32, T1N, R16E, MDM, 2.8 km (9,200 feet) W of Grapevine Point (about 8 miles SE of Tuolumne, in the Tuolumne River Canyon), on private (patented) land within a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein averaging 2 feet in thickness. The ore body strikes N30W and dips 25NE. The ore forms lens-shaped bodies. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings comprised of 6 adits on the vein, with lengths, from lowest to highest, of 540, 1,162, 312, 1,125, 236 & 100 feet, respectively. A winze on the vein in the lower adit is 525 feet deep.

Significant amounts of placer Au have been removed from the Tuolumne River by suction dredges in this general area.
