South Tolcarne Mine worked three intersecting lodes from one shaft (Engine Shaft), which is located 340 yards SSE of Field's Shaft of Tolcarne Mine. This area is now heavily grassed over.
Together with West Condurrow Mine, South Tolcarne Mine produced 320 tons of black tin and 1,300 tons of 11% copper ore between 1858 and 1873.
