Panczner in his Minerals of Mexico states this about the locality. "The mine was originally called the La Fe Mine, but several years ago was changed to the La Amparo Mine, The present operating mines are located 3.2 km north and south of the origianl La Amparo. The calcite is found in faults and fissures in the rhyolitic rock.
