Vevja (Bakken) quarry, Tvedalen, Larvik, Vestfold, Norway

Vevja quarry was previously one of the most rewarding larvikite quarries in the Tvedalen area, despite its relatively small size. Several pegmatites were exposed; one which produced a large number of chiavennite specimens. The quarry was closed down in 1984.

    Habit: spherulites up to 3 mm in diameter; also as radially oriented, platy aggregates completely lining small analcime cavities
    Colour: chreme-white to pale beige; white
    Description: In vugs. The tvedalite is always overgrown by a crust of chiavennite
