Snow Mine, Chester Emery Mines, Chester, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, USA

This mine is the most remote of the group, and the most difficult to locate in the field. A maze of more recent, yet now overgrown, logging roads has obscured the original mine road to the point where it is extremely difficult to follow to the mine. The mine was noted for producing the best corundum crystals (only the Old and Sackett mines are also known to produce actual crystals of corundum as well) but diligent dig efforts in the dumps during the mid-1980s only turned up two specimens of them. It is suspected that the specimens which came out during mining were collected at that time, little of the material ever reaching the dumps.
