Ceredigion (Dyfed; Cardiganshire), Wales, UK

Following the reorganisation of 1996, the Unitary Authorities of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire were formed from the administrative county of Dyfed when it was dissolved back into its original component traditional counties (Ceredigion is the Welsh name for the English Cardiganshire).

The administrative county of Dyfed was itself only formed during the 1974 administrative reorganisation from the traditional counties of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire that date back to the middle ages.

Locations in this section are within the part of the current Unitary Authority of Dyfed that previously formed Cardiganshire and specimens from these locations may be labelled as Ceredigion, Dyfed or Cardiganshire depending upon the period that they were collected.

Locations in the parts of the Unitary Authority of Dyfed that previously formed Pembrokeshire or Carmarthenshire are listed seperately within those sections.
