Berggießhübel (Berggiesshübel), Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany

(Berggießhübel (Berggiesshübel), Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel, Erzgebirge, Sachsen, Deutschland)

Magnetite-sulphide skarns, hosted in hornblende schists and andalusite-micaschists formed at the contact between a granite intrusion (Markersbach granite) and Silurian to Devonian clay schists and diabase tuffs. The lens-shaped skarn orebodies occur in NE- to WNW-trending swarms that can be traced over a distance of 3 km. In the past, they were worked by several mines.
