Keivitsa intrusion, Sodankylä, Lapin (Lapland) Lääni, Finland

Located 40km N of Sodankyla. The Keivitsa intrusion belongs to a distinctly younger group of intrusions at 2.06 Ga and thus
shows that there is also PGE potential in this age group of mafic magmatism which is also
wide spread in northern Finland. The intrusion is about 5 km in diameter and shows a very
complex structure. Large tonnage and low grade PGE-Cu-Ni sulfide deposits were located
by the Geological Survey of Finland and further studied by Outokumpu Mining in the 1990s.
Disseminated mineralisation was estimated to comprise some 90 Mt grading 0.6 g/t PGE
+Au, and 0.4% Cu and 0.25% Ni.
However, recent reanalysis by the Geological Survey of Finland shows that there may be
higher grade PGE zones grading from 3 to 20 g/t. A Swedish company, Scandinavian Gold
Prospecting, is currently holding the exploration licenses of the area.
