Altered Toongi intrusive trachyte (of Jurassic age) containing highly elevated levels of the metals zirconium, hafnium, niobium, tantalum, yttrium and rare earth elements.
Ore minerals are very fine grained (20-100 μm).
The trachyte is mined by sulphuric acid leaching.
