Katharina II Mine, Imsbach, Kirchheimbolanden, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

(Grube Katharina II, Imsbach, Kirchheimbolanden, Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland)

Ancient copper mine, worked from the 15th century until the early 1920s. Mainly copper sulfide mineralization in highly fractured and silicified ryolite of the permian Donnersberg dome. The mineralized structures (2 fracture zones, the southern mined by Katharina I) strike NW-SE. Katharina I and II were joined by at least 2 adits.

Located SW of the Donnersberg mountain, 1 km NW of Imsbach and about 12.5 km SW of Kirchheimbolanden.
