Frenswegen 3 deep bore, Frenswegen, Nordhorn, Lower Saxony, Germany

(Tiefbohrung Frenswegen 3, Frenswegen, Nordhorn, Niedersachsen, Deutschland)

A borehole driven for natural gas prospection. Below the methane-bearing dolomite, at a depth of 1924.8 m, the bore hit the Zechstein formation, composed of thin layers of conglomerate and limestone over a thick (238 m) layer of anhydrite. Heidornite was discovered in a cleft in the upper part of the anhydrite layer, at a depth of 1968 m.
Located NW of Nordhorn.
