A group of ancient mines, some of which were working in the mid 1700s, and possibly during the reign of Elizabeth 1 (1533-1603)
The company of Providence Mines was formed in 1832 and included the mines Wh Speed, Wh Laity, Wh Comfort, Wh Providence, Wh Crack, Wh Grace and Wh Good Fortune (Hamilton Jenkin 1961).
Providence Mines then worked until 1877, their closure being precipitated by the then uneconomically low tin price.
