    Description: Ikaite precipitates from mixing of seawater and ground water when they mix at the tip of a column. The reaction is that between carbonate and bicarbonate ions in the springs water and calcium in the seawater. http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/1486/ikkap.htm
