Site of an old lead smelter to which ore was brought from all over Ireland in the 19th century. The smelter flues run up the hillside and terminate at a prominent chimney on the hill top. The site also has its own little lead mine. The lower workings are mostly obliterated, but a small opencast trench remains below the chimney, with some spoil tips amongst the trees below. One can find cerussite crystals and pieces of galena in this area although it is quite difficult!
