Somma-Vesuvius Complex, Naples Province, Campania, Italy

(Complesso Somma-Vesuvio, diverse municipalità, Napoli, Campania, Italia)

The active Vesuvius volcano is a distinct locality within the arcuate shaped Monte Somma, which represents the remains of an older, much larger volcanic cone.

Several quarries and oucrops exist in this area (all now in a National Park and collecting is strictly forbidden).
