Dzhezkazgan Mine (Zhezkazgan Mine), Dzhezkazgan, Zhezqazghan Oblysy (Dzezkazgan Oblast'; Dzhezkazgan Oblast'; Djezkazgan Oblast'; Jezkazgan Oblast'), Kazakhstan

This mine has produced wonderful specimens from various levels of four shafts: #31, #46, #55, #57. There is a rumour that during the soviet power the mine was run by slave labour.
Late bronze age copper mine.
Production is from sedimentary rocks of Permian age.

    Description: Bornite can also pseudomorph after Betekhtinite (RWMW specimen) A variety rich in lead, named "Galenobornite" ( (Cu, Pb)4.7 Fe S4), in long (3 centimeters) primatic yellow-brown crystals, has been described in this deposit (T.A. Satpaeva et al. , Izvest. Akad. Nauk. Kaz. S.S.R. , Serv. Géol. , 1964, 2, 29. ).
