Habit: Irregular rystals to 8 cm, but mostly app. 2-3 cm with some distinct faces. Crystals tapering, tabular with sharp (101) and reflections from rounded faces (010),(021) and (02-1). Invariably single crystals, no clusters.
Colour: Yellowish or brownish, invariably altered to white
Description: This was a unique find from marine silt in drill cores, made during construction of a railway bridge in 1875. About two thousand crystals were found but none have been recovered since. Crystals have altered after collection and are probably an artefact mixture of Dittamrite and Newberyite analogues.
