Emerald mines, Campos Verdes, Santa Terezinha de Goiás District, Goiás, Central-West Region, Brazil

Emeral deposit, associated with ductile shear zones cutting mafic and ultramafic rocks. Emeralds occur in phlogopitites and phlogopitized talc-carbonate schists. Unlike all other Brailian deposits, the Santa Terezinha deposit is not associated with pegmatites.

The mines were discovered in the 80's about 20 km N of Santa Terezinha de Goiás. Around the mines, a new city was formed, which is now the administrative center of the new Campos Verdes municipality.
