Lletty Evanhen Mine (Vaughan Mine), Bontgoch, Trefeirig, Ceredigion (Dyfed; Cardiganshire), Wales, UK

The mine developed a ore shoot in the Camdwr fault system. The vein is recorded as being up to 36 mts wide in the Taylors adit. Lletty Evenhen mine first recorded working was by Matthew Frances in the 1840s. And continued to be worked on and off until about 1857.Production figures are not known for this period. Under the name Vaughan, it was developed by John Taylor & Sons (the great 19th centry mining company). In this working a long adit was driven from near the Llechwedd Helyg mine site. And after 9 years it was holed through to 67 fathoms below surface. But the orebodies were found to have pinched out. Taylor worked the mine from 1868 to 1881 producing 581 tons of lead ore, and 282 tons of zinc ore. There is a recored of a few tons of manganese ore being found whiel driving the Taylor adit. Some work was done in 1910-11 with a small output.
