Sikhote-Alin meteorite, Paseka village, Sikhote-Alin Mts, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia

The Sikhote-Alin meteorite is classified as a coarse octahedrite. This iron meteorite fell on February 12, 1947 in the Sikhote-Alin region of Eastern Siberia, Russia.

The initial estimate of this meteorite's size was set at 26 metric tons. The figure was later revised to more than double that figure (up to 100 tons). The debris trail is some 7 km long by 0.5 km wide. The material is considered nearly exhausted now (2008).
