Jizerská meadow (Iser meadow; Iserwiese), Jizerské Mts (Iser Mts), Liberec Region, Bohemia (Böhmen; Boehmen), Czech Republic

(Malá Jizerská louka, Liberecký Kraj)

Small placer deposit known at least since the 16th century. Heavy minerals come from Quaternary gravel terraces (0.5 to 2 m thick), mostly covered by 0.2 to 3 m of peat.
Mineral association: zircone (up to 30 %, max. 9 g), ilmenite (okolo 25 %) and titanite (up to 20 %). Ferromagnetic Mg-Fe3+ variety of ilmenite is called iserine - mostly 2 to 20 mm black pebbles. Largest known sapphire 12 mm. Part of minerals came from surrounding granites and their vein accompanying rocks, part from quartz veins. The gneiss of some is not resolved.
