Wilhelm-Erbstollen Mine, Falkenstein Mt., Falkenstein District, Schwaz, Brixlegg - Schwaz area, Inn valley, North Tyrol, Tyrol, Austria

(Wilhelm-Erbstollen, Falkenstein, Revier Falkenstein, Schwaz, Gebiet Brixlegg - Schwaz, Inntal, Nordtirol, Tirol, Österreich)

This adit was started in 1873, to provide a new access to explore the eastern sections of the Falkenstein deposit. Since 1896, it produced rich ores which were transported for processing to Brixlegg and, after 1897, to the smelters at Freiberg in Saxony. In 1923, a mercury extraction plant was built, which produced 22 tons of mercury from 1924 to 1927. The mine was abandoned in 1957.
