EPR 13° N, East Pacific Rise, Pacific Ocean

Active hydrothermal vents located on the EPR at 13°N.
Particles in suspension in hydrothermal water from deep hydrothermal activity in the tholeiitic basalt oceanic crust.
Abundant polycrystaline non-adequately described new species of spinels : Fe/Zn (Zn up to 33%) and Fe/Ti (Ti up to 31%) spinels.
