Surrounding of locality is composed of relicts of denuded tertiary vulcanites in mica schists of the Klínovec series. Loučná body is petrographically mostly nephelinite and its differenciates (olivinic, glassy, sodalitic, leucitic and doleritic nephelinites). Phenocrysts are pyroxenes (augite, titanaugite and aegirinaugite), biotite, titanite, perovskite, apatite and rarely melanite.
