Braen Quarry (Braen Stone Industry Quarry; Sam Braen Quarry), Haledon, Passaic Co., New Jersey, USA

A trap rock quarry located within the Preakness Mountain Basalt of the Watchung Mountains, which commenced operations in 1920. The Braen family acquired the land in 1948 and has run it ever since. Mineralization occurs within the pillow formation, veins, amygdaloidal pockets, scoriaceous basalt and diapiric structures containing cavities. This quarry is one of the very few extensive exposures of the Preakness Basalt.
