Camborne - Redruth - St Day District, Cornwall, England, UK

The most productive mining district in the west of England, which also includes some of the longest-lived mines of the region, including Dolcoath, South Crofty and East Pool.

The district encompasses the mines on the north side of the Carnmenellis granite and around two small outlying masses, known as Carn Brea and Carn Marth, which are separated from the former by stretches of killas country rock. The mines in the central Carnmenellis area and on its south side belong to the Wendron-Falmouth district.

The sub-division of this area in the database follows the scheme presented by Dines (1956), which reflects geology of the country rocks and the variable ore mineralogy of the deposits relative to the distance from the granite-killas contact.
