Selenite crystals found in the camping area by Lake Aviemore, near the Waitangi Station homestead. During wet weather the tracks into the camping area become dug up exposing crystals, and may also be found in road banks in the immediate area.
Ferro-axinite listed on Mindat relates to (Mansergh and Watters, 1970), however the reference could not be accessed. The species may not relate specifically to the selenite site. Pale brown ferro-axinite in quartz and prehnite veins, hosted by prehnite-pumpyellite metagreywacke
