A tin and copper mine, which is said to have worked on a mixed tin and copper lode that occurred in the footwall of an EW-trending elvan dyke. The sett occupied a fairly large tract of land between Barton Lane in the north and Lower Penhale farm in the south and the extent of workings reported by Dines and Hamilton Jenkin (but of which there is no trace left at the surface) suggests that there also were other lodes explored.
In 1860-1861, the mine produced 10 tons of black tin. Another 20.5 tons of black tin and 31 tons of tinstuff were raised in 1875-1882.
