A former (past producer) W-abrasives (garnet) mine located 9.4 km (5.8 miles) S of Ocotillo. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is . NOTE: MRDS conundrum: calls it a "prospect" but states "past producer."
Mineralization is a W deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 42; USGS model code: 14a; Deposit model name: W skarn) hosted in limestone and schist. The ore body is a lens 1.22 meters wide and 19.81 meters long. Ore control was a contact zone. Fine- to medium-grained diopside-tremolite-garnet skarn occurs along a contact between tonalite and biotite schist. Scheelite is disseminated in blocks 0.5 inches (1.25 cm) across and in stringers 0.25 inch thick and 3 inches long. Associated rocks include Late Cretaceous tonalite. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic granitic and metamorphic rocks undivided.
Workings include a trench and an incline (S80W), at 2.44 meters deep and 18.59 meters long, and 7.62 meters long, respectively.
Analytical data results: 2 samples of skarn: 0.43% WO3, 1.46% WO3. 4 other samples had <0.1% WO3.
