NOTE: Not to be confused with the Great Wheal Prosper China Stone quarry at Nanpean, approx. 5 miles to the west of the China Clay pit.
Apart from china clay, the pit is largely unmineralised, although very minor turquoise has been reported.
Contrary to the above statement, permissive access to the pit by several established and highly experienced Cornish collectors some years ago found that Cassiterite is present at this locality in notable quantities.
Also in 2007 a zone of pegmatite type material had been uncovered which yielded specimens of crystalline Fluorite.
