A former surface perlite mine located in sec. 9, T2S, R12E, about 1½ miles NE of Picketpost Mountain, and about 2½ miles SW of Superior, on National Forest land. Estimated location, unknown precision. NOTE: Perlite deposits in the vicinity of Picketpost Mountain may contain Apache Tears.
Mineralization is perlite hosted in Arnett Rhyolite and obsidian. The mineralized zone is 13.72 meters thick.
Assay data: Perlite is light grey to milky white. It has strongly developed spheroidal perlitic structures, from a millimeter to several tens of centimeters in diameter, and are successively superimposed on one another. The main mass of perlite cotnains several percent water.
