Hutton (1957) describes rhodonite-spessartine-rhodochrosite rocks found as narrow lenses about one mile southeast from the junction of Arrow River and Billy Goat Creek.

Reed states: "Near the junction of the Templeburn with Arrow River about a mile above Macetown, a deserted mining township 10 miles from Arrowtown,
schist bands up to 6 ft thick consist largely of manganese-garnet or
spessartite and magnetite."
